Beyond Compliance: Building Respectful and Inclusive Organisations

An insightful session into conduct issues including sexual harassment, and the ramifications of inadequately addressing these from personal culpability to PR nightmares. The session will consider the benefits of values-based leadership and embracing diversity and inclusion to achieve transformational cultural change. We will also explore the Respect@Work report and what employers need to know about the Government’s Roadmap for Respect.

Speaker Bio:

Fay Calderone is a Partner in the Employment team at Hall & Wilcox, based in Sydney, who has paved a path as a lawyer passionate about inclusion drawing on over 20 years of experience acting for employers. She presents at major industry conferences, publishes articles and provides media commentary with a progressive approach to workplace issues including the elimination of workplace discrimination, bullying and sexual harassment encouraging employers to move “beyond compliance” to the creation of healthy, inclusive, respectful and flexible workplaces.

Fay’s influence extends to boardrooms and C-suites of multinationals and large Australian employers through her delivery of workshops on these issues. As a Flexible Work Ambassador, Co-Chair of the Hall & Wilcox Diversity, Inclusiveness and Wellbeing Committee, Fay advocates for the evolution to agile workplaces as the new “normal” to remove the structural barriers to pay equity and the progression of women in our profession. Fay is relentless in her pursuit to send the elevator back down and believes it is incumbent on leaders to champion the change necessary for the next generation to thrive. Fay received a high commendation in the NSW Women Lawyers Achievement Awards as Private Practice Lawyer of the Year 2019 and is recognised for Labour & Employment Law in The Best Lawyers in Australia, Doyle’s Guide and Asia Pacific Legal 500. She was also a finalist for Thought Leader of the Year in the Lawyers Weekly Women.
