Do you know about Global Shapers? Whether you are a young person yourself or you have young people close to you in your life, I’d encourage you to come along and learn about this amazing movement. Feel free to forward this invite to young people in your network, or you may work in an OD role considering how best to involve and empower younger people in your organisation. For one of our last Lunch & Learns I’m super excited to have GS along to inspire us into action that can change the world!
The Global Shapers Community is a network of young people driving dialogue, action and change. Born out of the World Economic Forum, the Global Shapers Community is a network of inspiring young people under the age of 30 working together to address local, regional, and global challenges. With more than 13,000 members, the Global Shapers Community spans 448 city-based hubs in 150 countries. In each city, teams of Shapers self-organize to create projects that address the needs of their community. Projects are wide-ranging – from responding to disasters and combating poverty, to fighting climate change and building inclusive communities. Shapers are diverse in expertise, education, income and race, but are united by their desire to bring about change that makes a difference.

On Wed 25 Aug we are lucky to have Janine and Rosalyn along with us who are the current curators for the Gold Coast Global Shapers Hub, a team of action-driven youth who are working on local projects in the areas of climate change, health and aspects that shape the future of the city. They will discuss the current projects and how others can get involved to develop valuable skills in leadership, project management and partnerships. Whether GC-based or not this will give insight into how to get involved in your local Hub.
